Safety Tips for Dying Your Hair

Are you tired of the dull color of your hair? Do you want to change the hairstyle? Then you need a makeover! It sounds simple, but is it safe to dye your hair? Some hair dye products can be harmful to hair. It can cause damage to your hair and even hair loss.

So, how to dye your hair and keep it healthy at the same time? It's important that you always use products that are good for your dyed hair, from shampoos to styling tools like portable hair dryers to hair dye products.

1. Do a sample test first to avoid allergic reactions. Allergic reactions to dyes aren't common, but we've all seen horror stories. To make sure you don't react badly, apply some dye to a small patch of skin on the back of your neck and follow the instructions on the box.

2. Buy two boxes. If your hair is longer than your shoulders and very rough, use two boxes of the same color to ensure full coverage. Just be sure to mix the dye in a glass or plastic bowl -- the metal bowl will oxidize the dye and cause color changes.

3. Prepare before dyeing your hair. You should wash your hair at least 24 to 48 hours before dyeing. Don't use conditioner, as it removes natural oils and makes it difficult for hair dye to set.

4. Strand test. While this may seem like one of the less important steps, don't make the mistake of ignoring the strand test. It tells you exactly what the dye looks like on your hair and allows you to adjust the treatment time accordingly. Just grab half an inch of hair, the normally invisible part - I usually take some from behind my ears, use hair dye and wait for the time specified on the box. Then rinse with cold water.

5. Section. In order to avoid uneven hair color, you can put the hair is divided into four parts, two in front of the ear, two at the back. Always paint from back to front. This way, the dye will stay behind your hair for the longest time.

6. Shampoo and condition your hair. Wait at least an hour before washing your hair. Waiting for a shampoo allows the dye to penetrate your hair more thoroughly. After washing your hair with specifically designed for colored hair, use the conditioner that comes with the hair dye. Rub it thoroughly on all your hair.

7. Dry your hair. It’s best to dry naturally. Or use a warm but not too hot hair dryer to blow your hair with the least amount of heat.
