Why does human hair wig tangle?
There are many reasons why human hair wigs are tangled and they are easier tangled than natural hair.
Dryness. One reason our natural hair doesn't see as many tangles is the natural oils that our scalp secretes, the oils that prevent hair from drying out and knotting. The hair on a wig does not benefit from the natural oils of the scalp, which makes the fibers drier and more easily tangled.
Rubbing and sweat. Another common complaint is tangled on the back of the neck. You may notice more tangles in this area due to sweat and wig rubbing on the neck. Rubbing a wig against certain fabrics, such as wool or other thick materials, may cause increased tangles.
How to detangle a human hair wig
1. Soak your wig. If your wig is really messed up, you can soak it in warm water. To do this, fill the sink with warm water and let the wig soak in water for 10-15 minutes. Carefully remove excess moisture from your wig. Then put the wig on the wig head or stand.
2. Apply condition to your wig. Fill a spray bottle with three-quarters of water. Then add some conditioner to fill the bottle. Your goal is about a 3 to 1 ratio of water to conditioner. Shake the mixture well. Spray the mixture to all over the wig until it is fully saturated.
3. Comb the knots off. Now use the wide-toothed comb to begin slowly brushing away any knots, starting at the ends, then move up toward the top. Depending on the length of your wig, this process can take a long time. Just be patient and be careful not to yank the wig, as this will only will make the tangle worse.
4. Spray the whole wig with water. If you use a lot of conditioner on your human hair wigs, you need to spray the whole wig with water. This helps further dilute the conditioner and reduce grease.
5. Dry the wig. Leave your wig on the stand and give it some time to dry naturally.
